Equifax

Equifax is one of the bigest credit agencies in the world. Their job is to collect and distribute the information of 800 million people to businesses worldwide. They also monitor credit and sell fraud-prevention services. They were founded in 1899 in Atlanta Georgia.

The Equifax Hack

In September 2017 Equifax announced a breach that occured in July 2017 where the hackers stole the personal data 145.5 million U.S citizens. Equifax also confirmed that at least 209,000 credit card credentials were taken in the hack. Stolen data includes full names, social security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and driver license numbers. If you want to figure out if your data or credit card info was taken in the hack you can check for any unreconizable activity on your credit card. If you were affected by the hack you could get $2,000 but you would probaly get about $125 as compensation.
